Fire Bunkers

If you live in a bushfire prone region you need to protect your family and valued possessions with a Aussie Fire Bunker.

We will see more days of extreme fire weather in the future!

Research done by CSIRO shows that by 2020 we expect to see a greater number of extreme fire weather days, longer fire seasons and a greater potential for multiple fire events like those seen in the Victorian fires. We don't yet know how these changes will impact fire behaviour.

VICTORIA'S fire chiefs knew they were powerless to stop the fires rolling towards Kinglake on Black Saturday, but were unable to relay warnings to the residents in time.

"So people are going around saying, 'Oh, the warnings weren't there.' The reality was: it's in our mantra over and over again (that) you may get no warnings."

"You would need something that is essentially underground because of the insulating quality of the earth,"

Please note:
Australian Fire Bunkers are waiting for the new Government building standards to be released on March 19th 2009 before releasing our new models. This will ensure that your bunker will meet the new standards with maximum product effectiveness, quality and safety.

Nationals Member for Benalla, Bill Sykes, warns members of the public to be aware of companies selling potentially ‘below standard’ fire bunkers.

“Given the current situation and an existing ‘climate of fear’ due to the recent, and ongoing, bushfires I understand people’s need to want to protect themselves by purchasing and installing a fire bunker. However the public needs to be aware of the possibility for companies to take advantage of the present fire situation and sell fire bunkers which could potentially prove to be nothing more than a ‘Bakers Oven’,” Bill Sykes said.

Debate about improved bushfire protection following the disaster of February 7 has only just begun and there is a massive amount of work to be done in relation to reviewing and implementing new safety standards by the relevant authorities.
